Which plane divides the body into left and right?

Transverse plane

Medial plane

Sagittal plane

The left-right division is accomplished by the sagittal plane. This vertical plane runs from front to back and splits the body into right and left portions. When a sagittal plane passes exactly along the midline, it’s the midsagittal (median) plane, which divides the body into two equal halves.

In contrast, the transverse plane is horizontal and separates the body into upper and lower parts, not left and right. The term medial refers to structures toward the midline rather than naming a specific plane, and there isn’t a standard “lateral plane” used to describe left-right division.
